On the occasion of Milan Design Week, Eligo Studio designs Contessa for Lispi—an elegant upholstered canopy bed that merges the company’s artisanal savoir-faire with the creative vision of the Milan-based design duo.
Contessa is a modern alcove that carefully balances the tactile strength of iron and steel with the softness and lightness of textile fibers.
The structure is crafted in iron with polished steel columns, featuring solid iron elements turned and hand-forged: floral-shaped finials and glossy-finished feet that create a striking contrast with the natural hammered iron joint, enhanced by domed-head screws, also polished.
The design is completed by bespoke tassels—created by the historic Milanese workshop Passamanerie / Figli di Carlo Monti—and fabrics by C&C Milano: the bed frame and headboard cushions are upholstered in a refined striped textile, while a light drape surrounds and crowns the structure.
This airy fabric defines an intimate space, gives character to the canopy, plays with light, and becomes a delicate, elegant mosquito net. The Contessa headboard is upholstered and fully removable.
