The Arenzano Fireplace was conceived as an evolution of the traditional domestic hearth, reinterpreted within the context of contemporary bourgeois homes.

More than a functional element, it becomes a light, almost suspended architectural presence, capable of redefining the relationship between space, warmth, and perception.

It stands as a tribute to the research and work that Eligo Studio has carried out for over a decade along the Ligurian coast, from West to East, exploring the dialogue between modern architecture and the memory of place, and translating it into a contemporary design language.

The project draws inspiration from the great masters of Italian design and interior architecture of the 1950s and 1960s (Vico Magistretti, Ignazio Gardella, Marco Zanuso, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, and Gio Ponti) renewing their language with respect and awareness, while avoiding any literal quotation.

In this reinterpretation, tradition becomes a living material, capable of generating new ways of inhabiting space. The pinewood of the Arenzano Golf Club represents a field of experimentation for Eligo Studio, a privileged context within the REINVENTING THE CLASSICS project, dedicated to reinterpreting historic residences and modern spaces, restoring their value, relevance, and a renewed domestic identity.

The Arenzano Fireplace is defined by its contemporary character: a soft, lightweight form that evokes the wings of a seagull or the sails crossing the Gulf of Tigullio, inhabiting the space with natural ease, never imposing itself.

Its presence balances sculpture and architecture, gesture and function.

Here, aesthetics are guided by function: lightness becomes the core design principle, informing every choice from form to technology. The element of fire is reinterpreted through three circular burners using bio-fireplace technology, fragmenting and multiplying the flame into a discreet, almost abstract presence.

The result is an object that not only provides warmth, but creates atmosphere—redefining the hearth as a spatial and sensory experience, balanced between innovation, sustainability, and design culture.
